This isn’t my usual kind of post… but lately I’ve been loving hosting!
Having people over, setting the table, putting out a few simple things—it’s quickly become one of my favorite ways to spend a night.
And this ranch has been one of my go-tos. It’s easy, it’s really good, and somehow it’s always the first thing people ask me for.
So I figured I’d share it here.
Why I love this recipeIt’s:
- super easy
- made with ingredients you probably already have
- Takes 5 minutes to make
- and somehow tastes so much better than anything from a bottle
It’s the kind of thing you throw together quickly, but it feels a little elevated (which I’m always into).
Ingredients:
- 8 oz (1 cup) sour cream
- 1/2 cup milk (i sometimes use half & half)
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise (not Miracle Whip!)
- 1/2 tbsp Hidden Valley Ranch dry seasoning
- 1/2 tsp (or a little more) Lawry’s Seasoned Salt
Instructions:
- Add everything to a bowl
- Mix together with a whisk until smooth
- Chill in the fridge before serving
Store in the fridge — lasts about a week
That’s it. Truly.
A few notes (because I’ve made this a lot now)- It gets better after it sits for a bit—so if you can, make it ahead
- If it’s too thick, just add a splash of milk
- Fresh herbs make it feel extra special, but dried still works perfectly
How I use it
Honestly… on everything.
- with veggies
- as a dip for fries
- on sandwiches
- drizzled over salads
- and once (accidentally) as a pizza dip… which I fully stand by
This one has definitely become a staple for me.
If you try it, let me know what you think… or what you end up putting it on.
XO,
Shaef
