The Only Ranch Recipe You’ll Ever Need!

The Only Ranch Recipe You’ll Ever Need!

This isn’t my usual kind of post… but lately I’ve been loving hosting!

Having people over, setting the table, putting out a few simple things—it’s quickly become one of my favorite ways to spend a night.

And this ranch has been one of my go-tos. It’s easy, it’s really good, and somehow it’s always the first thing people ask me for.

So I figured I’d share it here.

Why I love this recipe

It’s:

  • super easy
  • made with ingredients you probably already have
  • Takes 5 minutes to make
  • and somehow tastes so much better than anything from a bottle

It’s the kind of thing you throw together quickly, but it feels a little elevated (which I’m always into).

Ingredients:

  • 8 oz (1 cup) sour cream
  • 1/2 cup milk (i sometimes use half & half)
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise (not Miracle Whip!)
  • 1/2 tbsp Hidden Valley Ranch dry seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp (or a little more) Lawry’s Seasoned Salt

Instructions:

  1. Add everything to a bowl
  2. Mix together with a whisk until smooth
  3. Chill in the fridge before serving

Store in the fridge — lasts about a week

That’s it. Truly.

A few notes (because I’ve made this a lot now)
  • It gets better after it sits for a bit—so if you can, make it ahead
  • If it’s too thick, just add a splash of milk
  • Fresh herbs make it feel extra special, but dried still works perfectly

How I use it

Honestly… on everything.

  • with veggies
  • as a dip for fries
  • on sandwiches
  • drizzled over salads
  • and once (accidentally) as a pizza dip… which I fully stand by
I love having little “go-to” things like this—easy recipes that you can bring anywhere or make for yourself that just feel a bit more thoughtful.

This one has definitely become a staple for me.

If you try it, let me know what you think… or what you end up putting it on.

XO,
Shaef
